After a few months of quitting my toxic job. I've decided to search for another one last week. So, to prepare myself mentally, I've watched videos from career coaches to help me with the job search. I've also updated my resume.
I have not applied to any jobs yet but a recruiter reached out to me last friday night. They needed someone with my academic background who can make a career shift. But my work experience is different from my academic background and it's been a years since I graduated from college. I saw the e-mail Saturday morning and decided to accept the interview on Monday.
In terms of preparedness for the interview, I would say I gave 6/10 effort. Now, the recruiter called me asked about my degree, my work experience, etc. I got tongue-tied since I forget or don't know what to say. My verbal skills are not that great to be honest. I stutter even on a day to day basis. I blank out, or forget what to say. I have a hard time explaining things. My written skill maybe so-so.
The recruiter said they will let me know if I can get the next interview this afternoon. It's 3pm and I'm pretty sure I'll get rejected.
I don't know if I'm cut out for any job. I've been to a few interviews before my previous job and get rejections. It's either I'm overqualified or do not meet the minimum qualification.
In my field, people will continue to pursue for a higher degree but I know in my heart that path is not the right one for me. I don't see myself continuing that field for the next five years.
I'm really sad, disappointed, and feel like I'm making all the wrong decisions in life. I've wasted my parent's time, effort and money to study in that field that I'm never gonna use. I never should have existed. I don't know if there is a place for me here.

Ok, so are you done feeling sorry for yourself? If not, don't read my message, at least, not yet.
The best and the only way forward starts from exactly where you are. Taking some time to look at and evaluate the way you think is necessary. When you have a handle on this challenge, all the others will be the best that they can be. You are not a super hero but you are a lot better then you think you are.
You are not your thoughts. They all come and go. Most are uninvited and many are not helpful. You are not your mind. You have a mind and it is a necessary and powerful instrument. Using an unmanaged powerful instrument can be dangerous.
Check out Aaron Abke Mind Science on youtube. He has dozens of 15 minute videos on this subject alone that can help you understand how to proceed. Read the titles and pick the one that seems the most interesting. If it resonates with you, start at first one and go from there.
