Does anyone have advice to work efficiently? I genuinely can't do my work. I might do it for 10 minutes but then I get agitated and just waste time (either walking around my house, talking to my siblings, going on my phone, listening to music etc.) I want to be able to sit and work through an assignment but I can't and it's very frustrating. I genuinely want to be able to work at a fast speed so I am done quicker and have more free time. I am only getting older, and sooner I will be much more busy and will have to manage my time better. Honestly any help would be appreciated, and I will be replying to these if anyone sees this post.

ReplyI've found the best way for me to work personally. Maybe it will help you. Personally I turn off my music and put on an ambience (no music) to listen to (cause I'll end up vibing to the music and not working). It was actually surprising how much it helped me. I'll also make two lists. Things I have to do, no compromise, no "Oh I can do it later" and than things that I could work on if I felt the need to. Also manage due dates and make sure you don't end up getting overwhelmed by it. Also on my to do list, I'll typically write it in a notepad or something, and when I'm done with working on things for the day, I'll add a spot for a progress report so that I can hold myself accountable for what I do and see how far I've come y'know? A lot of times I'll make the goal that I can watch a YouTube video or listen to my favorite song if I get to a halfway point of something. That's helped me get through my end of the year projects for every class. Hope this helps. :) Now I'm gonna go do my own work lol.
ReplySorry that's a lot haha that's just how I personally work
ReplyNo it's perfect haha. Thank you for the reply! I will try your method
ReplyI use the Pomodoro method sometimes. You work for a certain amount, like 25 minutes, then take a short break, like 5 minutes. You repeat this 4 times but on the 4th cycle, you give yourself a longer break, like 15-30 minutes. I also often have a drink like tea or a smoothie or a snack like a granola bar, or at least gum or mints because it helps me keep focused. I often listen to music but I almost always listen to instrumental music because music with lyrics gets distracting. Sometimes I'll listen to music with lyrics if I'm doing a simple task, especially if the lyrics are in a language I don't understand. I also sometimes listen to nature sounds or ambience. I always work next to an open window because the sounds of nature and the world outside helps me relax and focus. I make 2 to-do lists, a general one, and then one where I break down everything I have to do in little steps and I check off each thing after I complete it so I can look down and see I've made progress and not get discouraged. I take a break to take a walk outside if I really can't focus. Hope some of this helps!
ReplyAlso, sometimes I video call with a friend and we both study at the same time because being around other people who are also working helps me stay focused.
