The first time I burned myself was an accident of course in fact I’m sure the first few times were an accident. You know stove, curling iron, straightener, etc. Then one day an accident turned into an outlet. My grandfather had just been killed in a house fire. He was my best friend and I felt numb, like absolutely nothing made me feel. I was doing my hair for the funeral, curling it and I dropped the wand right on my thigh. It burned but only for a second and I started crying. Not crying from the burn crying because I felt something. That same day I burned myself on my wrist and the back of my arm on purpose just because it felt better than feeling nothing. Now I don’t do it all the time but it has become a habit in a way, the numbness starts to seep in and I find the most discreet places to burn myself. Like my hip or the inside of my thigh. One time I did a number on my hand. I think somethings wrong with me but I don’t do it regularly I promise but I crave it when I’m numb. Has anyone ever experienced something like this and how do I stop.

I have. It's hard, I get it. Feeling numb is hard. I don't understand how it feels to lose a grandparent, I haven't before. I haven't felt extremely numb, just a bit. I watch sad movies or TV shows and cry. I cut myself, but not as much as I used to. Now, when I get an urge, I try to do something to distract myself. It doesn't distract me forever, just until I actually have to get things done, and then I don't have time to cut anymore.
Just distract yourself. It'll get better, I promise.
Also, I found something really interesting on the internet, it's called reality shifting, and I just wanted to tell someone about it. Maybe you could try it sometime, just as another way to distract yourself.
Idk. I hope I helped at least a little bit.
