The world is a truly amazing place. It’s the people that make it awful. Think about it~ half the adolescent population is depressed. Why? The people in their life. Whether that be people in their family or a friend/lover. It’s a cycle of pain and hurt and sadly, there’s only and ending for few. One gets hurt so they become numb and hurt someone else. That person in return goes and does the same thing.
For me, it doesn’t hurt anymore. I’m too the point where I’m not necessarily NUMB but I don’t mind anymore. I understand the people who come in my life aren’t there for ever. Does that mean i don’t care anymore? No of course not. I care so much. That’s my problem sometimes. It just means it doesn’t effect me as much as it would have a year ago. May not be healthy but hey, It’s the only thing keeping me from unaliving myself.

ReplyI'd like to know where you got that figure "half the adolescent population is depressed".
If you're just conjuring up something you feel is true, then I must warn you not to do that. That's how our minds tend to skew information to make something feel a certain way when it isn't.
"An estimated 3.2 million adolescents aged 12 to 17 in the United States had at least one major depressive episode. This number represented 13.3% of the U.S. population aged 12 to 17."

I don't say this to prove you wrong. I say it because depression can make the truth harder to see and having the ability to challenge those thoughts is what helps in battling depression in itself.
We're not saying you're wrong, we're saying the depressive thoughts are. That's the difference. So there's a lot more hope than your mind is letting onto. 13.3% is still a HUGE number but it's nowhere near as hopeless as simply saying half. You see what I'm saying?
You gotta find every bit of hope that you can, anywhere you can find it.
