People get mad when we try to point what’s wrong with the world if they don’t spare the same point of view. When I talk about the French religious ban and specifically it’s impact on Muslim women, people will get all offended and try to justify it by pointing out how certain Muslim countries force women to cover their heads. Yeah, that’s not right either and Islam even stands against for a women to be forced to do anything. But then, the French government is forcing Muslims who wear it willingly and as worship, to take it off because they don’t want “religious symbols” in their secular society. But then they say “freedom of speech and freedom of expression”. This as plainly seen is hypocritical. While this impacts all religious symbols, it doesn’t make it any better because now government is technically discriminating against all these groups. And for whatever reasons, there are specific orders for Muslim women. That they have to be over 18 to wear it and “Muslim Mothers cannot wear hijab when accompanying their children on field trips” if you don’t believe this one, please feel free to look it up. There aren’t many specific orders on religious men. In fact, just like many societies, this is just men dictating what women should wear YET AGAIN. In Islam, while men and women have different roles, they have equal rights. Of course, Islamic governments don’t seem to understand that because again, this is a misuse of religion in politics and of culture which is not religion at all. This is just like the French government misusing it’s title as a ‘secular’ society. I feel like many non-muslim women in France don’t really understand how this impacts them. Because of this ‘secular’ society laws and a discriminatory leader, for example people can’t request a doctor of a certain gender. That’s strange because choosing a doctor of a certain gender is for the comfort of the patient. It’s more likely that a female patient would prefer a doctor who is female for the same reason a male patient would prefer a male doctor. This is simply because they would feel comfortable. The leader in power seems to point this out as ‘gender discrimination’ when it really isn’t. It’s just to keep people comfortable.
Women also can’t be fully clothed on a beach in some locations, which is very bizarre.
In the end, what they are doing is not right and hurts many people in society. It marginalizes all women from wearing what they want and religious groups who wear religious clothing. It wants them to feel vulnerable and just goes to show how this all is a hypocritical government leader at work again.
