I’ve been hurt twice and I don’t want to get hurt again. The problem is I develop feelings for people very quick. I’ve been trying my best to quit this habit but school starts tomorrow and I’m afraid I might develop a crush or something. Can I get some advice on how to avoid having a crush on anyone? (I’m a sophomore btw)

Hi, I'm a junior. I'm sorry youve been hurt before. The best advice I've ever heard about having a crush: If you feed a crush it will grow, and if you starve it will die. If you have a crush on someone, don't be rude to them, but don't take unnecessary opportunities to talk to them, check their socials, sit by them, etc. At the same time, don't be afraid of having a crush. Thinking someone is attractive is totally normal. Be honest with yourself, acknowledge the feeling of attraction you have towards the person, then let it go. You may need to do/say this in your mind more than once, but persevere! It gets easier. Spending more time with your family and friends, staying involved in school activities and your regular work always helps to keep your mind off of a crush. Also, I've found that, after getting over guys I've had crushes on, I realize that I appreciate and enjoy being friends with them way more than I would enjoy being in a relationship with them. Have a good first day tomorrow and a great school year! I'm rooting for you.
ReplyYou just have to believe that no one will love you.
ReplyIt might not be “fall in love quick/want to be in relationship.” It might just be you are lonely and want to be loved.
