I can't fathom why people force religion on their kids.

It's fine if *you* like your religion and it makes *you* happy. But why don't you give your kids a choice? If *you* aren't allowed to eat pork, don't eat it. But it crosses over into mean and wrong to not let your kids eat it. It's mean and wrong if *you* have to wear a long skirt, so you make your daughter do likewise. It's mean and wrong if you make your kids miss out on Halloween because it's against *your* religion. I resent my religious upbringing and quite frankly I think it should be illegal to indoctrinate kids. It is illegal to have sex with children, it's illegal for children to join the military, it's illegal for a child to go into debt. Yet, their parents are allowed to indoctrinate them which can be every bit as damaging! Stop being mean to your kids just because it's in *your* beliefs.

The sad truth is that parents control and literally own their kids like property. If it were up to me, nobody would have children unless they could prove they can take care of a family but most parents can't even take care of themselves. They have children to fill their own insecurity and give them a sense of power over a helpless life.
ReplyMany years ago when most people went to church once a week children were kept in line by having the fear of God in them and so were adults. It is a pity that isn't still the way today.
ReplyThank you. I completely agree.
My father is a JW and I think that pretty much sums up what I had to deal with when I was younger.
