I’m Asian and I grew up in the east bay. I’ve been reading some articles and stuff online about celebrities getting called out for having a blaccent or using aave a lot. I’m scared I might get called out by some people at my school or just but anyone in general. The blaccent and use of aave is just kinda normal in the east bay. I’ve been trying to watch my tongue lately because I don’t wanna offend anyone

For me it helped to watch movies or tv shows with intelligent or interesting sounding people, and I try to speak like them. I come from an area that has a very strong ugly dialect (the rural south). Just try to be conscious of how you're speaking, compare it to how respected people talk and adjust your accent as you see fit!
ReplyYeah I had problem too. I am Asian and from the east bay, and I have had a blaccent and used aave on many occasions, even saying the n-word. As this whole racial thing got out of hand, I started to morph my accent into a British one. It is very respectable and many people have that type of accent, so I made the switch, and I use aave less now.
