I’ve known my best friend for years but when she gets obsessed with something she does not stop talking about it. She mentions it every single day and I always listen to what she has to say and reply, but I despise it. Like I understand if she wants to talk about it but it’s so often that I just get sick of it. I’m not interested in it whatsoever so it just becomes such a chore. I’m definitely not going to tell her this but I would appreciate some tips on how to not hate it so much.

Honestly I would suggest for you to tell her this. If you’re not someone who likes upfront confrontation you can say something like “I love talking to u. But I feel like sometimes u go on about certain topics for a long time. I would like to talk to u about those topics since u like it but not too much.” But if u rlly don’t want to confront her at all and u just want to hate it less then maybe try and get involved with what she likes. Idk what else to say. You’re prob not gunna like everything she likes but who knows? Maybe you’ll find something u both enjoy and can talk about. If u have common interests it will feel less like a chore and more fun
Reply*i meant u could text her instead of face to face confrontation
ReplyYou could try to subtly change the topic, or if she says something that reminds you of somethingelse you like that you can talk about, try to steer the conversation towards that.
Replyif she is your best friend she would be able to understand when you tell her how this habit of hers is annoying to you.
