How can I help my sister who's going into eating disorder? She says she's going on a diet but she just eats 300 cals a day. I'm really concerned for her. She tells me to eat more the day I'm going into a proper diet but when I tell her to eat more she doesn't listen. Before I used to eat just like this, 300 cals a day. It was a hell hole. I gained way more than I lost. I told her about it but she doesn't want to listen. Now she makes sure to always eat less than me and my sister. Whenever I eat she would ask me, how many scoops did you get. She would constantly look at my plate and eventually scoop way too little of food. Barely even 1/2.i don't want her to feel miserable right after this "diet". What do I do?

As a last resort, dig up some shock stories about the horrors of eating disorders online to put her off.
ReplyTell her that if she ain't gunna eat then she needs to drink beer
ReplyNot a good idea. I know a guy who barely ate and just drunk and he had the shakes and died prematurely
ReplyI think you should sit her down and talk to her about it. I think you should tell her that it's not healthy and that she can get sick from it (talking from experience) and that she needs to eat more because you are worried about her health. If she doesn't listen and keeps eating less and less, and it makes you even more worried. I think you should take her to a doctor.
ReplyEating disorders are hell. In the beginning there is a honeymoon phase that she probably is in now. The longer she restricts and establishes these eating patterns, the harder it will be to recover. I would honestly recommend telling your parents and trying to get a therapist. Eating disorders are about control and your sister needs help creating healthier coping mechanisms. I've had an eating disorder for almost 7 years now and it's only made me hate myself more and worsen my depression and anxiety. It's my only crutch in life, and it's a terrible one.
