I'm realizing that I bought in to the whole divisive rhetoric like "so and so is bad because they have such and such opinions," and "these people are evil because of they are [insert marginalized group here]." It's shit like this that can start a civil war, especially when enough people think such things. I don't care which side did it first. I don't care. I don't care if you're conservative and think liberals are evil, nor do I care if you're liberal and think conservatives are evil. Stop seeing the "other side" as enemies and start seeing them as people. I wasted so much of my life thinking like this, and I feel horrible about it, especially now while watching our country being torn apart. I don't know if I can live with myself anymore. At this point, I don't think I want to.
I won't tell you whether I am conservative, liberal, libertarian, Marxist, or any ideology. It doesn't matter to me right now anyway. I don't want any comments saying "but this group of people is evil because..." I'm tired of divisive rhetoric. Stop pointing fingers. Stop being self-centered. Start loving your neighbor.

Unbelievably, some of my neighbors want me dead. I will love my being alive more than them.
ReplyAre your neighbors the kind of people who believe in divisive rhetoric?
ReplyNot OP, but do you think the semantics matters when their life is at stake? It’s cruel to ask someone to not care about that
