The time I got in trouble for saying nothing to someone.
My boyfriend at the time and I had gone to church camp together. A 20 mile trip. He drove. My mom made us take the pastor's daughter home.
We had a tape in the car, playing Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' "Greatest Hits." My bf and I had a conversation going between us. So we were just chatting and listening to music. We didn't say anything mean to the pastor's daughter. But she told my mom that we were mean to her because we didn't talk to her on the way home and she felt excluded. GIRL. You were a forced third wheel, and if you wanted in the convo you could have jumped in. Did you need permission to speak? I guess so, because I got grounded from seeing my bf for a week because I had been PERCEIVED as mean to the pastor's daughter, when I hadn't even said *anything!*
And people wonder why I resent my parents' church.
