Very few things parents tell their kids they can't do. There should be a very short list that's federally approved, of rules you can make for your kids. And if you make any more rules than what is on the list, the kids can call CPS on you and be taken away to live with *good* parents who don't have rules like "No Harry Potter" or "No Halloween."

Well, unless a parent is physically, verbally or emotionally abusing you - I can say as a parent that they do what they think is best for you simply because they love you. You'll reach adult age sooner than you think, at which you can go away to college, join the military, or just get a full time job and move out. It goes by faster than you think, so just try to keep in mind that they love you. Best of luck.
Courtesy notice: the following includes a reference to a book that contains writings over 2000 years old which are mostly parables about human nature, both vile human nature as well as moral human nature, parables that are meant to teach us to learn and grow, including the teachings of Christ Jesus. No religion required, and better yet: no public displays of devotion required, although the former and latter are admirable if practiced freely out of one's own free will and without the threat of being beheaded. Some bullies will label this "trolling", so "change the channel" now if of no interest to you.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Mark 12:28-31
And Christ Jesus said the 2 greatest commandments are:
Love God first and foremost.
Love your fellow-being as you love yourself.
From following or not following these, all good or evil cascades, respectively.
ReplyNo Harry Potter or no Halloween. Do you consider that a good or bad thing? I agree some make too many ridiculous rules. If you make too many rules the kids will go wild once they hit adulthood. Happened to my cousin. He's can't quit the drugs because his dad was too strict on him and his dad was mean too. But what I'm saying is you're gonna experience life one way or another. Just be smart about it. Learn from your mistakes. Your parents are supposed to try to keep you safe to learn you right and wrong. Not make your house a jail.
