Growing up, I was the girl who made friends with all the kids who had social anxiety. I would strike up a conversation with them and ask them how they were doing even when I knew they wouldn't respond. Sometimes I wondered if they were just annoyed by me, and maybe I should just leave them alone.
Now I am the girl with social anxiety. I understand now that they were probably grateful for those interactions. I also understand that they probably left some of those conversations feeling like garbage for not being able to respond loud enough or respond at all. And that despite my kindness, they probably sometimes thought that I hated them for their shyness, even though I never did.
I hope they're doing better now.

I totally get that! Just yesterday all my friends were busy during lunch, so I walked up to some random person and had a conversation with them! sort of, she was mute. so we had to use phones, but it was so nice to get to know her! Sometimes I do worry if im just annoying other people by talking to them.
