ReplyThe line between thinking and worrying can be thin sometimes. Checking in with yourself and gauging if your running in circles or actually making progress in planning/thinking can help. If running in circles, stop, take a short break. Take a walk. For distractions to use as a break choose ones that are not designed to get us addicted. So something like a walk or stretch will take you out of the friction in your mind but it won't keep you away from your work for hours.
ReplyIs listening to podcasts a mind-numbing activity? I feel bad now... I'm the kind of person that likes to pay attention to the things they do but lately I've been in a boredom streak where anything in the background would get me entertained.
ReplyI feel you. I love podcasts too! But I've found that listening to podcast while doing hands-on chores or even tasks at your job that you can do without thinking (basically muscle memory) is the best combo. Listening to podcasts while doing tasks that require you to read and understand or actively come up with ideas is a distraction in my experience.
