Once again my mother is yelling about stuff that is mostly her fault. Example of the day: our Pitbull, named Gambit. Tonight she had the argument that (for the most part) he is a good boy but a bad dog. She's like "he doesn't guard the house". But she hasn't trained him to do that. "He doesn't love me" which isn't true but you can't force/train someone to love you. And lastly "he's unloyal", which is partly true. Typically he is most loyal to his favorite person depending on who is in the room. But that doesn't mean he isn't loyal to her. We have some creepy neighbors and I'm 100% certain he would go after them if they went anywhere near her. But when someone he hasn't seen in almost a year comes around, he's going to favorite them while they're here. And speaking from experience (being her daughter), it doesn't help when she's constantly switching her feelings about him. One day she's obsessed and spoiling him, worried about the day she will lose him, and the next she's shouting at him calling him names over the most minor things, and forcing him to sleep in his kennel instead of the bed. ( where he sleeps every night.) She doesn't seem to understand that her actions have an effect on him. He may not always understand the words but he understands the emotions. And when her emotions change in an instant, it's hard to keep track of good and bad behavior.

Please explain all of this to your mother and tell her to be kind to this dog at all times. It is a pit bull and if it turns on her and attacks her she won't like that.
