"I don't know how to do it. I don't know what to do. I don't know what you feel. What do you want me to do?"

"I don't know how to do it. Can you?" "I don't know how you feel, I don't know what to do. What do you want me to do?". It's awakening how some people can get away with saying these praises to get off the emotional/physical responsibility and pass it on to the other person. Today at work my co-worker told me he is not so good at doing this certain task and so he passed on the work to me, knowing that I can do it "better" than him. Makes me think how when "I" don't know what to do, I search on solutions on how to do it rather than passing it on to someone else. Am I living my life on hard mode? Why do I feel like people get a pass on somethings I normally would be deemed a failure if I don't know the solution of? People would say you need to set boundaries. In this hierarchy of work where you can't be disrespectful of your seniors or else you'll end up losing your job, can you really say no?

If he tries to pass his work to you tell him what you have said here about searching on solutions and tell him to learn to do it himself.
ReplyTell him you need a pay increase percentage as the additional work load was not in your job description and the extra pay will help you to cover costs of proper training.
