I rescued my cat when she was under a year old from someone I used to work with. I say rescue because of her living situation when she was there. Here's a huge problem im having with her. He allowed his animals to relieve themselves anywhere throughout the house and didn't care, when I got her I potty trained her but she still relieves herself outside of the litter box a few times a week. Her box is cleaned daily, she is never blocked off from it, she sleeps with me so I keep the door propped open but she'd still choose to pee in the laundry basket/any type of bag/any fabric on the floor/shoes. She does it at any point of the day, in any room. It only happens a few times a week but I am unsure on how to break this habit.. this behavior isn't from medical issues or whatever pops up on Google when searched. I love her so much and I hate thinking of rehoming but it happens often enough where I'm tired of it and desperate for a solution. She's my baby I love her. Ive been trying to redirect this behavior since I noticed the problem. She is 2.5 yr old and not fixed.. for the first 2 years I was in an area with no vets around for a few hours so unfortunately I was never able to take her due to distance and my schedule/work.. I moved into the city and finally have access to vets so I'm hoping to take her in within the next 2 months. Will spaying her stop this? Or is this a habit from childhood?? Asking for advice before I'm able to see the vet.

Incest
I know my bf from 2 years. He is so good to me and I love him so much. Recently he told me that he wants to be honest with me about something because he can't...
Spaying might help, but only time will tell. I would ask your vet about it when you go in, they might have some tips. Otherwise, here are the tips I know from my cats: making sure litter box is clean (which you said it is), making sure the litter and food are not in the same room, making sure the litter box is not difficult to get to or too small/covered (anything that might make your cat feel claustrophobic), and making sure your cat is healthy and happy (somtimes it's just a matter of playing with them more). Changing the type of litter you use might also make a difference if your cat just doesn't like the litter. Also always make sure you have one more litter box than the amount of cats you have (i.e. if you have one cat, 2 boxes or for 3 cats, you need four boxes etc.) And make sure the boxes are not in the same room (spread them out in the house).
Hope this helps.
ReplyForgot to add you could also try changing the location of the litter box.
