i’m 17, and i’m gonna be a senior in high school soon. that means applying for college and all that, and i’m nervous. i want to major in environmental science and minor in photography or film. i feel happiest when i’m by myself in nature. being around people, even my family, leads to a lot of anxiety and overstimulation for me. i feel like im stifled. i was born and grew up in a small suburban town, and i’ve very rarely traveled. sometimes i feel like i’m stuck here, and i’ll never achieve my dreams of being in nature and seeing the world. i feel like if i don’t choose the right college and major, i’ll never leave this place.

College Life
Entering college I knew some of my friends would drift away. Or maybe some of my closest friends would be busy. I knew that I'll have friends of my own too....
You've got this, do not worry. It all seems scary at first, and it is, but you are capable of more than you know. Make sure you do your research, put in the time and effort into finding the perfect university for you, and examine all your options. Sometimes it can be better to go to a two-year college before you go into a four-year university. Don't throw yourself into debt just to get away. Apply for every scholarship you can find, even those you may not qualify for.. a lot of scholarships go unused because no one ever applies. Save up any money you can. Look into housing options as well, be it a dorm or an apartment.
