Earned my bachelor's degree and have a licensed as a Healthcare professional. Moved to a different country and learned their language. In 5 months time passed the it certification exam using their language which by the way is very difficult.
So since I now have the same certification and qualification as the local, I was offered a new position and of course an offer one cannot resist. The thing is the colleague thinks I am stupid just because I did not immediately catch what they said. First it was their language plus they have their own particular way of calling things and not to mention they speak too fast. I would rather ask and validated than to get things wrong, isn't it correct. Can they cut me some slack, they already knew it from the start. I'm not sure if it was discrimation or what.
The worst part of it is that I can hear them talking about me as if I am not there. I think they thought I don't understand them. Which is actually driving me to the edge. I try not be bothered but I cannot properly work if they do not have the patience to teach me and if they are not willing to teach me as well.
I will talk to my superior about it, I think it was the right thing to do. Tell me what do you think?

Yes, it is a good idea to talk to your superior about it, but this may make you more unpopular with your colleagues.
ReplyI Have thought about it too, but I think if speak my mind about it rather than keep it. I think the already do hate me anyway. Communication first plus we are all professional, if they cannot handle it then maybe I should change job.
