i know my mom only wants the best for me, but she found i have discord. i had to get out of many of my online friends' servers out of fear and she wants to invite me to an rp server and i don't know what she's going to do. how do i make her forget that she found my discord? i can't keep doing this secrecy. i started my writing career on discord and because of her i had to leave several writing project groups.

Always in Pain

Maybe you can tell her "Mom, I know you're trying to look out for me and I appreciate that, but I think I'm old enough to have some freedom online. If I feel like I need your guidance I'll definitely come to you and let that be known."
Replyi have anxiety when i talk to her and i think she would freak out if i said that:(
Replycan you make a new discord that’s just for your writing groups? (sorry if thats a dumb suggestion, idk how discord works)
ReplyListen, I think you already heard of internet being dangerous over and over again. But, I don't think this is overprotection or else your mother would not even let you have a laptop, phone or any device. There are worse cases where parents install monitoring apps or go berserk to the point of taking your devices away and sending texts to everyone to show them "who you really are" (my mom threatened to do this to me A LOT).
So, since you're using Discord for work. Have a talk with her. Explain. Keep your cool. You have some knowledge about internet safety, right? There are creeps out there, IP Grabbers, Doxxing and blackmailing so if you do have this knowledge and know how to protect yourself, you will be fine.
