My secret is about my gender. Years after learning about being non-binary (at the time, genderqueer was the more popular term), I thought I was genderqueer. Then I went back to thinking I was a woman, then genderfluid (man and woman) with my male name being Matt. Then I was no longer identifying as Matt. Now, I'm still questioning my gender with a lean towards being a demi-girl who doesn't mind being called a woman. Either way, my pronouns online are she/they with my IRL pronouns staying she/her.
Why does no one know about this? Well, I work for the government so a lot of people are openly conservative. Even centrists get flack. There's also the whole issue that people don't think non-binary exists as a gender even though many cultures have more than two genders. Then there's the question if I'm doing this as a trend since there is a huge boom in non-binary people who came out in 2021. This could also be internalized transphobia, but I don't believe all these people are non-binary as I believe you can still be your assigned sex at birth even if you don't follow gender roles.
