I've never had any sleep problems but as of lately I've had difficulty falling and staying asleep. Within the past month I've woken up in the middle of the night about 3x a week. Within this month there has been about 3-5 instances where I can not fall asleep that day and I wake up the next day with puffy eye bags and red eyes. I spent the whole next day with my eyes burning and my body out of energy. I don't drink any caffeine either. I believe the problem comes from stress. I get so worked up and then the thoughts occupy my mind the entire day. I'm currently a college freshmen taking 18 credit hours in a stem field as well as working part time 20-24 hours a week in a restaurant. I'm usually active and exercise everyday but the semester I haven't even been able to exercise once a week. I have no time for myself and spend the majority studying/preparing for school then work. Right now it's midterms and I'm really stressed about those. Yesterday I had a problem at my job with a co-worker. I don't have time to sleep in on the mornings either. I'm trying to get some sleep but I usually end up with 5-6 hours. On bad days like yesterday I spend the entire night tossing and turning. I had a bad day yesterday and I was really stressed (mostly due to work, then school, then personal relationships), I even cried for a half an hour then decided I wanted to go sleep early. I went to sleep at 11 and couldn't fall asleep until around 1-1:30 am. After that I woke up at 3 am, fell asleep, and woke up again at 5, and then lightly slept until 7. Today I felt terrible the entire day at work. I've noticed eye bags and dark circles appeared. How can I de-stress or sleep better. I do not have that much time throughout my day to do much. I've thought about trying melatonin gummies but I've heard you can get addicted to them. Like I mentioned above, I rarely have issues sleeping it's just been this semester that has been hectic with work, school, and life. I can not afford to loose my job and I can't drop any classes.

Hey, I believe this problema stress and all other are because of over thinking, I myself have suffered that but two things helped me alot books mostly self help and bhagwad geeta( it's the most holy bool in sanatan sanskriti and it tells you greatness of religion or does not tell you to convert) if you want read bhagwad geeta and the awareness of the fact that I can only live and change my preasent, future hasn't happened yet so I don't need to contemplate my future until I have my preasent in hands. So I suggest when you are in bed just feel you are laying comfortably, don't try to see future nothing complete blindness in mind. It will be hard for just few days but will work. It worked on me hope same for you
ReplyI understand your dilemma. Sleep seems to be a luxury nowadays, specifically healthy sleep of 7-8 hours per night between 10 PM and 7 AM. I honestly wish I had advice on this topic, but my advice would probably be aimed at trying sleeping, when the actual problem is problem stress. But it seems that you are aware of the actual problem. I think this is similar to saying - "I don't have any money to gamble on the football game because I lost my money gambling on the basketball game." It seems we're all too busy nowadays. Best of luck.
Courtesy notice: the following includes a reference to a book that contains writings over 2000 years old which are mostly parables about human nature, both vile human nature as well as moral human nature, parables that are meant to teach us to learn and grow, including the teachings of Christ Jesus. No religion required, and better yet: no public displays of devotion required, although the former and latter are admirable if practiced freely out of one's own free will and without the threat of being beheaded. Some bullies will label this "trolling", so "change the channel" now if of no interest to you.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Mark 12:28-31
And Christ Jesus said the 2 greatest commandments are:
Love God first and foremost.
Love your fellow-being as you love yourself.
From following or not following these, all good or evil cascades, respectively.
Love...that powerful, invisible, intangible force that cannot be denied; even atheists live and die by it.

Instead of melatonin, try relaxing herbal alternatives (customer reviews on these are positive):
