as January arrives, the fun festive feeling washes over you, the ever so fleeting summers sunlight washes away on your skin with the warm bath as you hurry in from the cold. The icy sharp cutting cold painful leaves your skin bare cracked and raw, your lip bleeds as your teeth sink into them leaving the edges engraved, your skin flakes like snow as the cold wipes away the layers, and your body trembles as the the temperatures cause a commotion. As you lay in the water you look up, the seeping mildew drips, the shower curtain falls, and the porcelain breaks. You realize this, this is what it has come to. The tears well up in your eyes, yet you are strong, you are independent, you are all-American. Yet as you persist, your skin flares up the redness covers your skin and its sensitivity. The tears fall blistering into your skin and your memories. You look up, for anything, any sign, any drip, anything, yet you see nothing. The mildew has dried, the curtains hooked on each ring, and the porcelain pristine as always. The bath water tightens around your skin and steals your warmth, the coldness and grim of the water floats around you. You think to yourself, will it always feel this way? will the cold ever leave. The drain opens and what's left of the summers warmth washes away, swirling your dignity, your hope, and your happiness. You are left there, the bare skin is exposed, and every emotion floats you up, taking the waters place, the memories are wiped away and the winter appears yet again.
