My boyfriend had done something last night that I wasn't okay with. I expressed that I wasn't comfortable with him doing it beforehand, yet he went anyway. I broke up with him because I received bad news last night and was upset, and instead of coming to check on me, he went and did the thing that I didn't agree with. I am angry with him because he knows that I feel like I have no one in my corner, yet he continues to do things that he knows I won't like and makes me feel even more alone. It seems like what his family wants (they're the ones who persuade him to do these things that I don't like and that he claims he doesn't like) trumps my needs. One of the reasons why I chose to be with him was because we shared common dislikes (drinking, getting high, etc.), and now it seems like there's a disconnect because he's doing the things that we both claimed we didn't like from the beginning, all because it's what his family wants him to do. Should I try to talk to him again or should I let the relationship go altogether?

I think you deserve much better, so you should end it. It sounds like he has changed, he is becoming everything that you both disliked. If that’s more important to him, then you should let him go. You’ll find someone better.

Courtesy notice: the following includes a reference to a book that contains writings over 2000 years old which are mostly parables about human nature, both vile human nature as well as moral human nature, parables that are meant to teach us to learn and grow, including the teachings of Christ Jesus. No religion required, and better yet: no public displays of devotion required, although the former and latter are admirable if practiced freely out of one's own free will and without the threat of being beheaded. Some bullies will label this "trolling", so "change the channel" now if of no interest to you.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Mark 12:28-31
And Christ Jesus said the 2 greatest commandments are:
Love God first and foremost.
Love your fellow-being as you love yourself.
From following or not following these, all good or evil cascades, respectively.
Love...that powerful, invisible, intangible force that cannot be denied; even atheists live and die by it.
Mary, Mother of Christ, intercede for us with your prayers, now, and always.
And after our worst deeds - never forget God forgives us when we repent through Christ Jesus.
