It’s one thing to suspect you have a disability (not talking about chronic illnesses here), but literally diagnosing yourself with something is not it. The traits of many disorders have been watered down that so many allistic think they are autistic. I saw someone’s video talking about their sensory issues and someone commented “So does this mean I am autistic?” No Becky, hope that helps. They are taking away from the actual communities and are taking our voices. If you aren’t diagnosed, you have no place talking about issues on a disorder unless you have a family member with it or are a doctor. If it isn’t ok for a psychiatrist to diagnose themself, it shouldn’t be ok for people to either. People who actually have disabilities such as autism, anxiety, adhd, ocd, bpd, and did won’t be taken seriously because of certain people. No I am not talking about people who are likely struggling with a disability and can’t get diagnosed, I’m talking about those who think autism is quirky. Most of the “autism is silly” people that claim to have it don’t.

The inverse is also true which is you can’t know that someone doesn’t have autism by looking at them either.
