I don't believe there is any God, so I am an atheist. I'm going to my grandmothers this vacation but she is very religious. Before meals will I have to pray with her? I do not want to offend her or anything though. And if I do, how do you pray?

Ecclesiastes 5:9 sadness
I daydream a lot about meeting a great guy and the talks we'll have before he proposes to me. Sometimes their vast adventures to other worlds, and super powers!...

Religion doesn’t make sense to me.
It’s all about imposing fear. Do this OR... Serve OR.. It was meant to be closer to God, not doing something because of the consequences. And lately, re...
I grew up in a Roman Catholic house hold. When I was in a church school they told me to never question god. I never followed anything blindly. I slowly started realizing religion is evil. And how much it divided the world. At the age 16 I came out to my parents that I'm an atheist. They weren't happy but all well. I'm still the same person as before. I respect to be respected, Great morals and all. I now see how the churches greed for money. Everyone who goes to church is a hypocrite. These recent mass shootings, floods, hurricanes. Exposed how people don't really help. "Thoughts and prayers"? Wtf is that going to do?? I and others donate money that will physically help. Everything has an answer, question everything. I'm a man of science now. Just pray with them to not offend your grandmother. We are just like any animal on this planet. We're here to live, find a mate and breed to continue our species. No heaven no hell. Just beautiful life.
ReplyWhen I was little, I prayed spontaneously, from the deep parts of my heart and said it aloud.
A girl, who I won’t forgive, said that I was “inventing.”, everyone gave credit to her and shunned me.
At 16, my life turned into hell thanks to my parents. My dad don’t give a fuck, but, plays a moralist.
My mom is kinda fanatic, then, whatever happened was God punishing me.
I already started to question about my prayers, if I ever got answers. I prayed for my parents stop fighting and for protection. My parents didn’t stop fighting and I was CONSTANTLY bullied! By THAT FUCKING GIRL and her “friends”. I just wanted my school days were something good, not a memory that I hate!
ReplyNo one can really tell you how to pray. I've learned that from personal experiences. But there is this one prayer that i always used to say before a meal. It goes "God is good. God is great. And we thank him for our food. By his hands we are fed. Thank you dear God for our daily bread."
ReplyHi,
I am not an atheist but I don't really believe in divided religion. I do something only if it's right according to me and my morals. In this situation I would pray with her. If I didn't know how to pray I would ask her.
In your case, I would suggest you to do what you think is right according to your morals. If you feel that you want to pray for her although you are an atheist then just do it. If you think that you don't want to pray because you don't even believe there is a God and you would be faking it then you shouldn't do it. Just tell her what you think in a correct way. I am sure she will understand. She'll probably try to convince you, but you should explain it to her (remember, in a kind tone).
Have fun.
