You may know Wayne Brady for his acting, singing, and comedy performances. What many people don’t know is that behind his funny jokes and lively television personality, was a man suffering silently from depression.

After a breakdown on his 42nd birthday Wayne was prompted to finally go public and speak for the first time about his depression. In this interview with BringChange2Mind, he detailed behind-the-scenes battle and the stigma that prevented him from speaking up sooner.

“The secret of keeping all that to yourself and putting on that mask will eat away at you daily.” said Wayne. After identifying the barriers that kept him from seeking help, Wayne is using his story to inspire others to start talking about mental health and erase the stigma.
