To help cope with the death of her mother, director Fiona Dalwood asked other people about their encounters with grief and then created this incredible animated short to showcase how our unique experiences with loss transform us.
Depicted by a talking dog, spider, grasshopper, carrot, and cabbage, Fiona animated the five stories told that were related to loss of some kind. As you probably know, grief comes in all shapes and sizes, and affects us all in different ways.
In these examples grief included the loss of both parents, a bunny, the loss of a leg after a motorcycle accident, and a close friend who took their own life. If you’ve lost something or someone near and dear to you, hopefully you can relate to these stories on a personal level. Each person was able to find coping methods that worked for them, and perhaps those same strategies will help you too.
Dealing with grief is not easy. Fiona and Omeleto hope that this animation can act as a starting point start to help discuss the stages of grief along with some of the positive outcomes that you can look forward to with your unique situation.
