In this clip from Oprah's Master Class Series, Billy Bob Thorton discusses the effect that his brother’s death had on his life and how he chooses to honor him.

In Thorton’s case he’s never gotten over his brother’s passing, but he has learned how to live with the melancholy that resulted from it.

When it comes to honoring friends or family who have passed away Thorton believes that “By singing that song, or writing that movie, or doing that part in the movie, or writing a book, or whatever it is that has a sadness and a melancholy and a fear in it... those are the things that keep them alive. Whatever you put into your work or your family or your art”.

Grieving is different for everyone. It’s up to you to decide how you want to remember and celebrate the life of your loved one.
