Throughout your life you can choose to overcome obstacles that you’re faced with or to let the obstacles overcome you, the choice is yours. Steven Claunch, who was born without fingers on his right hand and with one leg shorter than the other, has excelled in basketball despite the physical impairments he has.
Steven shares his story of how his obstacles provided him with an opportunity to both inspire others and develop his character. An important mentality that Steven adopted at an early age was to focus on what he can do, not what he cannot do. Although Steven had disabilities, he worked hard on strengthening his abilities.
Everyone has obstacles to overcome. Some may be obvious outwardly obstacles and some may not be visibly present. Regardless of your personal situation, you have the ability to prove naysayers wrong.
If anyone thinks you can’t do something, or that you’re not good enough, focus on your blessings and prove them wrong. More importantly, prove to yourself that you are good enough and the opinions of critics will hold less and less weight.
