Lately when I am half asleep I find I am really creative at solving problems I didn't know were there or by just finding new ways of thinking about things. However I have also been having trouble sleeping. I like the feeling of waking up and realizing me tired thoughts made sense and feel really happy but then I can't control when they happen.

i’m the same way. i barely sleep because i think best at night. it’s my time to review, ponder, wonder, solve problems, think, etc. the best feeling is waking up and realizing just how valid your thoughts were :)
but...you should try and get your sleep, obviously. driving while sleep-deprived is just as bad as driving drunk in lots of cases. so please be careful & listen to your body!! 💚💚
