It all started with stress. I'll pully my hair whenever I'm sad, frustrated, etc. But now, I do it quite frequently and has become a habit. But I'd usually pull from a certain spot and it always feels satisfying and stress-relieving.

Hello. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology. Pulling hair is a form of self-harm. I recommend talking to a professional as soon as possible.
You need a healthy coping skills for what sounds like anxiety disorder. (I am not a doctor, so legally I cannot diagnosis you.)
Healthy coping skills include:
• deep breathing
• positive thinking ( "everything will be fine.")
• go for a walk
• take a shower/bath
• a hobby (coloring, writing, painting, etc)
These are just some examples. Please restrain from continuing to pull your hair and beginning using the healthy coping skills. If you cannot stop, you must seek a professional for your safety. You could end up with bald spots if you continue. I hope this helps.
ReplyHey there! If your is pulling my issue is hair plucking. I had this disorder since my elementary days and to tell you I've had numerous occassions were I almost went bald. I would pluck my hair especially during stressful situations or when Im not doing anything. I tried to stop but it keeps coming back. It felt good and satisfying. But of ourse it has affected my confidence and self-esteem for I always have to put my hair in a bun or ponytail to hide bald patches on my head.
ReplyI didnt know it had a name
