I just got catcalled, for the very first time. I know it's wrong and that I should be mad. I'm 13. Girls of that age shouldn't be objectified, right? But when those guys passed by, I wasn't offended. I smiled. It wasn't conscious, but that made me happy. Other women say it's violating and gross, and now I feel weird for liking it. Am I wrong?

Sorry, misstated my age. I'm 14.
ReplySometimes it can be done appropriately. But then I guess feminists say it's not catcalling anymore then it's consensual flirting. My point is not to worry about it or shame yourself. Wanting the affection and attention of others is honestly the most natural thing in the world for men or women. Just try to be aware if if you feel that way again or if it feels creepy. You'll know. You seem pretty sharp so far. I hope you dont have to deal with the creepy catcalling or whatever you would call it. My point is I wish you well. And believe in yourself because then no one else's disbelief can stop you.
ReplyYou're not wrong for liking it at all. However, they may not have the best intentions for you when they do stuff like that...so just be wary. You're super young, and that's a little inappropriate in my opinion. As long as you are staying safe and everything, I don't think you're in the wrong at all
Replysigh, youre not wrong to like it, but its also not right for the people who did it. maybe this is a way of validation for you ? maybe it was the attention and validation you got from it that you liked not the cat calling itself.
