Hey,
I should go to college this year but decided to take one year break, because I didn’t score high enough for medicine. At first it felt nice but now I’m very bored. All of my friends went to college and met new friends and I’m sitting at home and trying to fill my schedule as much as I can and do stuff at home, but I still feel useless.
I would appreciate any ideas on what to do, how to meet new friends etc.
Thanks!

I really don't have a single friend. After college, I am staying at home to prepare for competitive exams. And somehow I lost touch with everyone. I used to hav...

Replydeeper than I could ever go ;(
ReplyGo next semester. I took a break. Took a while to get back. If you were at school you would be missing your old friends but creating new ones at the same time. Next semester is a few months away
ReplyAre you starting medicine after this year ? I feel you by the way! I didn’t score high enough and now I am on a gap year.
ReplyYes, I will apply for it again after trying to get higher scores.
ReplySame here. I couldn’t afford to go so I took a semester off (and might extend it). I feel useless too and behind but I realized that first of all, I shouldn’t be comparing myself to anyone. And neither should you. It’s draining. It’s your life and you have your own path to success!! Second, I have learned so much during my time off about myself and my relationships. I’m sure you have learned some things as well.
Here are some things you can do. You can try getting a job or volunteer somewhere. That can help build your resume (if we are thinking career wise) and also help you get friends. You can try a new hobby you thought was interesting. For me, I started getting into video games a lot more and I started to get into character design because of it. It can help you find more passions!!
You can use this time to figure more about yourself and essentially who you want to be. I’m using this time off to build my confidence and to figure out what I wanna do. By doing this, you will start school with a new fresh mindset. You will be more focused and more grounded.
You got this. And remember that this is your path and not any of your friends. I hope everything goes well!

No religion required, and better yet: no public displays of devotion required. Some bullies will label this "trolling", so "change the channel" now if of no interest to you.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
ReplyHiiii. Try getting a job. You can meet new people. Volunteering helps too. You can find places online. Use dating apps too. Get out more. Talk to strangers. But most importantly stay safe and protect yourself. Wish you all the best.
ReplyI'm in the same boat but my best friend is a year younger than me so I still have her. She's been really busy though so haven't seen her in months. I see my friends posting about college life and it makes me feel behind and GOASh I feel like such a burden on my parents. But for me, I've always been a little slow. I look younger than I am and I've always felt behind in life. But that's okay. Everyone has their own pace. When everyone's taking the paved path were taking a different one and mabie it won't be the same experience as most people but the world needs variety. I think we're gonna be better more interesting people for it.
