what is my purpose right now? I pray and I hope that God will help me, and I know he will but I just feel so alone. Alone, in my own body. I don't feel like me. I don't feel like anything is authentic in my life right now. I am slacking on work. I am hoping for something all the time. I don't know what I am supposed to be doing with my life right now. I feel like no one will understand me. I am just stuck in this same rotation of life. The same routine. I can't escape it. If I do, then I feel like something is going to go wrong.

Appreciate what you have in your life now and if you don't want more and different you will be content. People who are always wanting more and different are never happy.
ReplyPersonally, I believe Ecclesiastes where it says God has set eternity in our hearts, and so there's always longing and hope to be fully reunited with him, and for crying and pain to be over like it talks about in Revelation. At one point, I felt the way you describe, and came across an opportunity to volunteer just one morning of my time. It didn't turn out the way I expected, but I ended up giving out essentials at a food pantry and being invited to visit the church community of a woman coming to receive items. That experience opened up a lot of changes in my life, and a lot more understanding of my purpose. Maybe you could look for a way to put a few hours into serving needy people in your area, maybe in a different way you haven't considered before? Also I have found that learning what the Bible says about spiritual gifts, was helpful to me in understanding more about my gifts and my purpose. I love Psalm 23 where it says God guides us in paths of righteousness for his names sake, and it's comforting that it says we are pressed but not crushed, perplexed but not despairing... in one of the Corinthians, I think. I'm frequently perplexed about life and next steps, but it feels like God meets me in that and keeps me moving. I hope you find next steps that bring you greater peace.
ReplyHmm. Having short term goals, long term goals, and someone to live for works for me, to keep my mind from being idle. As for routine, perhaps consider adding 1 new activity in your weekly routine. Best of luck.
Courtesy notice: the following includes a reference to a book that contains writings over 2000 years old which are mostly parables about human nature, both vile human nature as well as moral human nature, parables that are meant to teach us to learn and grow, including the teachings of Christ Jesus. No religion required, and better yet: no public displays of devotion required, although the former and latter are admirable if practiced freely out of one's own free will and without the threat of being beheaded. Some bullies will label this "trolling", so "change the channel" now if of no interest to you.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Mark 12:28-31
And Christ Jesus said the 2 greatest commandments are:
Love God first and foremost.
Love your fellow-being as you love yourself.
From following or not following these, all good or evil cascades, respectively.
Love...that powerful, invisible, intangible force that cannot be denied; even atheists live and die by it.
Mary, Mother of Christ, intercede for us with your prayers, now, and always.
