so i’m a senior in high school, and prom is in a few weeks. i’ve already gone to junior prom, and that was fun, but back then i had more friends. i cut off my best friend earlier this year, and most of my friend group, who i knew through my ex bff, stopped hanging out with me. now i only have a few friends, and they have dates to prom. i do not. my friend wants me to come, but i don’t know if i should. spending all that money on a dress, and shoes, (when i’m broke to begin with) spending the whole evening trying to avoid my former bff and her group, it just doesn’t seem like it’ll be fun. but my parents say i’ll regret not going. what should i do?

close to giving up
i feel hopeless. i'm overwhelmed with heavy thoughts of suicide and fear that i can't seem to place what it is from. i don't want to live anymore, i can't live...
I didn’t go, when I was senior I had a gf too and my mom really wanted me to go because she thought my gf would want to yada yada yada. Thankfully my gf didn’t want to go either, the two of us were kind of outcast. Do I regret it? Not even slightly. If you don’t want to go then don’t trust it’s not a big deal
ReplyIf you really want to go but are scared about facing your former bff and her group then just go. You will only regret it if you pass up the opportunity because of someone else. If you think you can still enjoy with your other group of friends, then just let go of all the things holding you back and just try to have fun whilst you are there.
However, if it feels like too much to go through, then you don't have to.
